A fully guided trip to deep Sumatran rainforest (Gunung Leuser National Park, Bukit Lawang) — where you meet the endangered Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) and many other endemic species in their own habitat.

Our official guide, Ren Tony, is licensed as a Senior Jungle Ranger. He is familiar with all junctions and corners of Bukit Lawang from his 20-year-long jungle-man experience, carrying his responsibility for the safety of our guests at the utmost possible.

Aside from Sumatran Orangutan, some other fauna species commonly seen include the following:

  • Water Monitor
  • Sumatran Peacock
  • Reticulated Python
  • Wagler's Pit Viper
  • Asiatic Softshell Turtle
  • Red Giant Flying Squirrel
  • Malayan Giant Squirrel
  • Lesser Mouse-Deer
  • Thomas Leaf Monkey (Thomas Leaf Langur)
  • Silver Leaf Monkey, Black Gibbon
  • White-handed Gibbon
  • Wreathed Hornbill
  • Long-tailed Macque
  • Southern Pig-tailed Macaque
  • Sunda Slow Loris
  • Wild Boar (Banded Pig)

There are some critically endangered species present in the jungle, but they are rarely seen. These species include Sumatran Tiger, Sumatran Rhinoceros, Sumatran Elephant, Malayan Sun Bear and Clouded Leopard.

Our travelers quote that there is no comparison to their experience in witnessing the orangutans in the wild.

Our itineraries vary from a full day package to a package that lets you stay 4 days and 3 nights in camp or at a lodge. Your trip can be tailored into your needs depending on your personal or group preferences to maximize the quality of your activities.

The tracks into the jungle can vary considering weather and track conditions. We can make the trek longer or shorter depending on your physical fitness, interests and other contributing factors.

This program may be started right on your arrival at the airport or from any hotel in Medan you stay at. Consult your time and plans with us beforehand, and we will share our experience and expertise to ease your trip!

This trip is an even more remarkable tropical jungle experience if you have more time to spend in the jungle. Longer time means deeper jungle, and that gives you even more tropical jungle magics and wildlife exposure.
That is an adventure to earn.
